"Doki Doki," Japan's benchmark Spanish-language animation show
The animated film exhibition " Doki Doki Animation Ñ " closed this Sunday in Japan with three days of screenings and talks with directors and creators, including the acclaimed director Fernando Trueba , establishing itself in its third edition as the bridge between this genre in Spanish and Japanese.
“ Doki Doki Animation Ñ is consolidating itself as a meeting space where Ibero-American works dialogue as equals with the Japanese animation tradition,” said the director of the organizer Instituto Cervantes in Tokyo, Víctor Andresco , in a statement.
- The event kicked off last Friday with the screening of the animated film ' Dispararon al pianista ' (2023), by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal, and included an online discussion with the renowned Spanish director.
The third edition of 'Doki Doki' brought to the Japanese public animated films such as the Dominican ' Olivia and the Clouds ' (2024), the Colombian ' Tropical Virus ' (2017) and the Spanish ' Rock Bottom ' (2024), among others.
As a new feature, according to the organizers, the film festival launched its third edition with a collaboration with the Quirino Ibero-American Animation Awards , including a special selection of award -winning short films that began in 2018 on the Spanish island of Tenerife.
A collaboration that represents "a natural step" in the Quirino Awards ' ambition to "connect Ibero-American animation with new audiences," said the awards' executive director, Silvina Cornillón , since " Japan is a global benchmark for animated art."
